Is KuCoin Available in Germany? (2026)
Yes — Germany is not named in Article 17(5) of KuCoin’s Terms of Use, last updated 29 July 2026, so German residents can register, verify and trade. The catch is which entity serves you: KuCoin’s own EU company in Vienna is still barred from starting operations, so you are contracting with the offshore platform under Turks and Caicos law.
Is KuCoin available in Germany right now?
Yes. We searched the full text of KuCoin’s Terms of Use on 25 August 2026, and the word Germany does not appear once — not in Article 17(5), not anywhere else. German residents can register, complete verification and trade spot, margin and futures. That is a different answer from Bitget, which prohibits Germany by name in its own Terms.
Article 17(5) is the only official list, and it is short: the United States and its territories, Singapore, mainland China and Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ontario and British Columbia in Canada, France, the Netherlands, and five occupied regions of Ukraine. Sanctioned countries are not named at all — Article 17(6) handles them by screening instead.
France and the Netherlands are the two Western European markets KuCoin does close, which is exactly why the German position confuses people. The full list is in our KuCoin restricted countries guide.
The EU licence that exists but cannot be used
KuCoin has an EU authorisation and still cannot trade on it. Austria’s Financial Market Authority granted KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH a MiCAR authorisation on 27 November 2025, covering custody, exchange, placing and transfer services. On 19 February 2026 the FMA prohibited the entity from taking on new business, after finding it no longer had suitable holders of the anti-money-laundering officer and sanctions compliance officer functions. The FMA lifted that ban on 18 May 2026 — but stated in the same notice that commencement of business operations remains inadmissible, because governance requirements and further senior key functions were still unmet.
For a German user the consequence is concrete: there is no German or EU KuCoin entity to onboard with, so you sign up with the offshore platform. It holds no MiCA authorisation for the German market, and BaFin does not supervise it.
What German users actually get — and what they hand over
A full-range platform with mandatory identity verification and no EU safety net.
KYC is not optional here. Article 15 of the Terms requires your name, email, mobile number, nationality and ID number at registration, and KuCoin’s own referral programme terms are written around the day “a new user registers and completes KYC verification”. Article 38 lets KuCoin terminate an account whose verification was never completed if it goes unused for a year.
One practical detail if you use anyone’s referral link, ours included: per KuCoin’s published programme terms the referrer earns 25% of your trading fees from the day your KYC is approved to the end of that month, commissions run for 365 days after your registration and not for life, and they stop entirely once an invited user reaches VIP Lv. 3. The programme is also closed to residents of Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
Germany at a glance: who takes you, who does not
Germany splits the big five cleanly. Bybit is the one with a usable EU licence, Bitget blocks the country, and KuCoin, BloFin and MEXC serve German users from offshore entities.

How to open a KuCoin account from Germany
Register with real details, expect full verification, and keep your own records — an offshore entity files nothing with the Finanzamt on your behalf.
- Register with your real country of residence. Article 15 asks for name, nationality and ID number up front.
- Complete identity verification before you deposit — commissions, limits and most features hang off it, and Article 38 lets KuCoin close unverified dormant accounts.
- Fund with crypto you already hold, or check what euro on-ramp is live on the day: a SEPA or card route for German users is ⚠ Not confirmed.
- Export your trade history yourself. German tax on private crypto disposals is your obligation. ⚠ Not confirmed — verify with a Steuerberater for your own situation.
- If EU supervision is the point, use a MiCA-licensed venue instead of an offshore one.

Frequently asked questions
Is KuCoin available in Germany in 2026?
Yes. Germany is not named in Article 17(5) of KuCoin’s Terms of Use, last updated 29 July 2026 — we searched the full text on 25 August 2026 and the country does not appear. German residents can register, verify and trade on the global platform.
Does KuCoin have a MiCA licence for Germany?
It has one it cannot use. Austria’s FMA authorised KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH on 27 November 2025, prohibited new business on 19 February 2026, and on 18 May 2026 lifted that ban while stating that commencement of business operations remains inadmissible. So German users sign up offshore.
Why does KuCoin ban France and the Netherlands but not Germany?
Because the block follows KuCoin’s own EU plans, not the MiCA map. Article 17(5) names France and the Netherlands as Restricted Locations while its Austrian entity cannot start operating. Germany was simply never added to that list.
Do I need KYC to use KuCoin in Germany?
Yes. Article 15 requires your name, email, mobile number, nationality and ID number at registration, and KuCoin’s referral terms are built around the day identity verification is approved. Article 38 lets KuCoin terminate an unverified account that goes unused for a year.
Whose law applies if something goes wrong on KuCoin?
Turks and Caicos law. Article 101 states that all activities between you and the platform are deemed to take place in the Turks and Caicos Islands, regardless of your physical location, and are subject exclusively to that jurisdiction’s laws rather than German ones.
Which exchange in Germany actually holds an EU licence?
Bybit is the clear case among the big offshore venues: Bybit EU GmbH holds a MiCAR licence granted by Austria’s FMA and passported across the EEA. Bitget prohibits Germany outright; KuCoin, BloFin and MEXC serve German users from offshore entities.
