Is KuCoin Available in the UK? (2026)

Checked vs KuCoin Terms Last updated: August 2026 3 sources linked

Yes — the United Kingdom is not named in Article 17(5) of KuCoin’s Terms of Use, last updated 29 July 2026, so UK residents can register, verify and trade. What is missing is the UK side: we could find no FCA authorisation, the FSCS does not cover you, and Article 101 puts every dispute under Turks and Caicos law.

Is KuCoin available in the UK right now?

Yes. Searching the full text of KuCoin’s Terms of Use on 25 August 2026 returns no mention of the United Kingdom at all — it is not in Article 17(5) and not anywhere else in the agreement. UK residents can register and use the global platform.

Article 17(5) is the only official list, and it is short: the United States and its territories, Singapore, mainland China and Hong Kong, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ontario and British Columbia in Canada, France, the Netherlands, and five occupied regions of Ukraine. Sanctioned countries are not named at all — Article 17(6) handles them by screening instead.

Among the big offshore venues that puts KuCoin on the open side of the UK line: MEXC restricts the country outright, and Bybit rebuilt its UK access through FCA-regulated partner Archax with a narrower product set.

What the FCA rules change for a UK user

They change what can legally be marketed to you and what happens when things go wrong — not whether the sign-up button works. Since 8 October 2023 the FCA’s financial-promotions regime has applied to every firm marketing cryptoassets to UK consumers, “regardless of whether the firm is based overseas”. The FCA has separately prohibited the sale of derivatives and exchange-traded notes referencing cryptoassets to retail consumers, and on 30 June 2026 published final rules for firms holding FSMA permission from 25 October 2027.

We could not confirm that KuCoin holds FCA authorisation or a cryptoasset registration. ⚠ Not confirmed — verify on the FCA register yourself. Practically: there is no Financial Ombudsman route and no FSCS compensation if the platform fails, because neither applies to an unauthorised offshore firm.

⚠ Read Article 101 before you decide this is a normal consumer relationship: everything you do on the platform is deemed to take place in the Turks and Caicos Islands, under its law, “regardless of the User’s physical location”. Your local courts are not the venue you would be arguing in.

What UK users get, and what they hand over

A full product range with mandatory verification, and zero UK consumer protection behind it.

KYC is not optional here. Article 15 of the Terms requires your name, email, mobile number, nationality and ID number at registration, and KuCoin’s own referral programme terms are written around the day “a new user registers and completes KYC verification”. Article 38 lets KuCoin terminate an account whose verification was never completed if it goes unused for a year.

⚠ Article 19 is the enforcement clause: if you breach an Article 17 undertaking, KuCoin may suspend the account and refuse you access to your digital assets, and states it bears no responsibility for the loss. The check that catches people is verification or a withdrawal — by then the funds are already on the platform.

One practical detail if you use anyone’s referral link, ours included: per KuCoin’s published programme terms the referrer earns 25% of your trading fees from the day your KYC is approved to the end of that month, commissions run for 365 days after your registration and not for life, and they stop entirely once an invited user reaches VIP Lv. 3. The programme is also closed to residents of Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

How to open a KuCoin account from the UK

Five steps, and the last one matters most: nobody in the UK will help you recover funds from an offshore platform.

  1. Register with your real UK details — Article 15 asks for nationality and ID number at registration.
  2. Complete identity verification before depositing; most limits and features hang off it.
  3. Fund with crypto you already hold, or check what GBP on-ramp is live that day — a UK bank or card route is ⚠ Not confirmed.
  4. Keep positions to money you can afford to lose: no FSCS, no Ombudsman, arbitration abroad.
  5. Export your trade history. UK capital-gains reporting on crypto disposals is your obligation, not the exchange’s. ⚠ Not confirmed — verify with an accountant for your own case.
⚠ A VPN does not solve a country block. Article 17(5) is a personal undertaking you give at registration about where you live and where you are registered, not a statement about your IP address, and Article 19 is what follows if it turns out to be false.

Frequently asked questions

Is KuCoin available in the UK in 2026?

Yes. The United Kingdom is not named in Article 17(5) of KuCoin’s Terms of Use, last updated 29 July 2026 — the country does not appear anywhere in the agreement. UK residents can register, verify and trade on the global platform.

Is KuCoin regulated by the FCA?

We could not confirm any FCA authorisation or cryptoasset registration for KuCoin. Check the FCA register directly before you deposit. Being reachable from a market is not the same as being authorised in it, and the promotions regime applies to overseas firms too.

Does the FSCS cover money held on KuCoin?

No. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service apply to authorised UK firms, not to an offshore exchange. Article 101 of KuCoin’s Terms places the relationship under Turks and Caicos law regardless of where you are.

Can UK retail traders use crypto derivatives?

Not through an FCA-authorised firm: the FCA prohibited the sale of derivatives and exchange-traded notes referencing cryptoassets to retail consumers, which is why Bitget serves UK users spot-only. Offshore venues sit outside that perimeter and outside its protections.

Do I need KYC to use KuCoin from the UK?

Yes. Article 15 requires name, email, mobile number, nationality and ID number at registration, and the referral terms run from the day identity verification is approved. Article 38 allows termination of an unverified account left unused for a year.

Which exchanges restrict UK users?

MEXC lists the United Kingdom on its restricted list. Bybit rebuilt UK access through FCA-regulated partner Archax with a narrower product set, and Bitget offers spot only. KuCoin and BloFin do not name the UK in their terms at all.

Start with an exchange that does not block the UK

The UK is absent from KuCoin’s Article 17(5) list, so registration is open — with mandatory KYC, no FSCS cover and Turks and Caicos law behind the account. Read that before you deposit.
