What "restricted" actually means
A restricted country is one where the exchange does not hold the licences to serve retail users, so it geo-blocks sign-ups or withdrawals. It does not mean crypto is illegal for you — it means that platform can’t serve you. An exchange that is licensed or open in your region can.

Is it legal to use crypto if my exchange is restricted?
In most countries crypto itself is legal even when a specific exchange is restricted. "Restricted" means that platform is not licensed to serve you — an exchange that is licensed or open in your region can.
What should I do if my exchange blocks my country?
Switch to an exchange that accepts your country. US users have Coinbase and Kraken; Canadians have Kraken and registered local exchanges; most other regions can use Bybit, Bitget or MEXC. Avoid circumventing geo-blocks, which breaches exchange terms.
How often do restricted-country lists change?
Frequently — often monthly. Exchanges add or remove countries as licences, partnerships and regulations shift. Bybit, for example, re-entered India and the UK in 2025. Always check the latest official list.
Is Bybit available in the UK and India?
In the UK it is limited: Bybit relaunched UK access through FCA-regulated Archax, so the product set is narrower than the global platform. In India it is available, with Bybit registered with FIU-IND. Both statuses can change, so confirm on the exchange’s official page before depositing.
